MEATWAVE — a free zombie shooter you play in the browser

MEATWAVE is a free top-down zombie horde survival shooter that runs entirely in your web browser — no download, no install, no signup. Play solo or in online co-op with up to 4 players. You are dropped into a low-poly suburban wasteland crawling with the dead, and the only goal is the honest one: survive as long as you can, kill as many as you can, and put your name on the global leaderboard.

How a run works

Every run starts with a handgun and ends with your death — MEATWAVE is a permadeath arcade shooter in the survivors-like tradition. Kills earn levels, and every level-up offers a pick of upgrades: more damage, faster fire, extra hearts, grenades, orbiting gun drones, saw drones that shred anything they touch, and more. The horde scales with you. The longer you last, the thicker the wave — hundreds of zombies on screen, each one killable, each one hungry.

The weapon ladder

Weapon crates climb from the humble M9 handgun through the Uzi, pump shotgun, Colt M4 and AK-47 up to the Barrett M107, the SMAW rocket launcher and the glorious Gatling gun — with a chainsaw for when things get personal. Ammo is real, reloads matter, and the right gun for the wave in front of you is the difference between a highscore and a headstone.

Co-op: bring your friends

MEATWAVE's online co-op takes up to 4 players and takes seconds to start: one player creates a lobby, shares the short code (or the invite link), and the squad drops into the same wasteland together. Voice chat is built in. When a teammate goes down you can fight your way over and revive them — and when the whole team is wiped, the run ends together and the lobby regroups for the rematch. One shared horde, one shared score: co-op zombie survival with friends, right in the browser.

Eight survivors

Pick your survivor before the drop: Frank, Rob, John, Dex, William, Jenny, Penelope or Karen — each with their own look, from flannel-and-work-boots to leather duster. Rescue stranded survivors mid-run and they fight at your side, mirroring your aim like a second pair of hands.

Controls

Fair warning

MEATWAVE is brutal. Heavy gore, blood, gibs and a body count in the thousands — which is why the game asks your age at the door. If that is exactly what you came for: welcome home.
